Alison does a fantastic job with these lessons. She explains everything you need to know and performs all of the songs beautifully. She really makes learning the violin great fun.

Books look great when printed. I just put everything in a binder.

I have saved and watched dozens and dozens of videos and tutorials from youtube but the Alison approach to the instrument and teaching method, are without a doubt simply the best.

I cannot recommend enough this course to everyone who is teaching themselves how to play the violin. The material is really clear and the pieces one has to play to practice were carefully selected. Good investment.

I have always loved the sound of a violin and over lockdown I decided to buy one and have a go at learning, I did some online searching for learning aids and came across Alison's YouTube tutorials, lessons 1 to 10 were great I have learned quite a lot, I have just moved onto lesson 11. Alison makes learning interesting and I am excited to continue my new hobby.

Hi, I'm very happy to give a review of the Learn To Play The Violin Book 2 and Song Book 2 as they are the perfect follow on to Book 1 which I purchased a few months ago. I am surprised at my progression and feel Alison's way of teaching has enabled me to feel the Violin is not out of my reach to play well. I looked at Song Book 2 and didn't feel at all afraid of the pieces in there as I know through the books and online tutorials I will get there. I strongly recommend Song book 1 and Violin book 2 (looking forward to go in to song book 2). Having been so fortunate as to have a little time on my hands and having inherited a decent violin, it seems my luck is complete with encountering miss Sparrows violin lessons and written material. Going from Twinkle twinkle little star to Bach and Händel etc. in just fourteen days has been completely intoxicating. The work with the scales – majors, minors, arpeggios and chromatics – has proven an effective way of making it sound better from day to day. I am deeply grateful for this material of which I have not found anything remotely as thorough and elaborate with such didactic finesse on the internet. Miss Sparrow is clearly an experienced violinist and a teacher I feel very fortunate to have stumbled upon. These are simply the cheapest thirty quid I have ever spend. It has provided me with the musical theory I should have learned thirty years ago. Suddenly everything makes sense. A background in fretted strings, drums and flutes has made it possible for me, but I sincerely believe anyone with just a little dedication can have a huge benefit from these online courses combined with the written material.
