It contains 10 well known classical and original pieces that have been written and arranged especially to go with the Violin Video Lessons 1-10.

So, if you fancy playing a few more pieces at the level you are currently at, rather than hunt around for books that are either too hard or too easy, then this is the book for you!

The book contains 16 pages that can be printed out on single sheets, or will fit nicely printed out on both sides, the bound together as you see fit.

Pieces in this book:

  1. Ode To Joy

Very good place to start the adventure of making happy noise

Posted by igor on 23rd Jul 2018

The online book and accompanying YouTube videos are very helpful in getting started with your adventure. I think that adding simple TAB on the first group of handouts would be helpful. I would be more than willing to recommend to any other newbies who have the interest.

    A MUST buy

Posted by Nacho on 15th Jul 2018

I originally didn't intend on spending 10 dollars on music sheets as they can be easily obtained online. Nonetheless, I'm glad I did. The songs are optimized for beginners which is very helpful. 10/10

    Great book

Posted by Kathy on 2nd Jul 2018

I love this book. Fast access with the download and print. Alison has done an amazing job for us newbies. I'm 61 and felt I was to old to learn. This collection of music eases you right into it, and before you know it you are playing the violin.

    Just what I needed.

I needed pieces at my level and that's exactly what these are. They are well known and the links to the tutorials help me know if I am playing them right.

I like the book as a beginner. Would like to see a copy of the book that identifies the note.

    Perfect for a beginner.

Posted by Ciaran Flanagan on 27th Feb 2018

Having done lessons 1-10 I was dying to try some real songs. The companion book fit perfectly for the level I am at. I'm happily making my way through it and confidence is building as I move from song to song. If you're following Alison's lessons just buy the book, you'll love it!

I feel like I have private lessons with Alison Sparrow!

Posted by Cathy Gill on 24th Feb 2018

I am a long-time fan of Alison Sparrow. I have played my way through (at the age of 62 and a beginning violinist) her 100% free lessons and learned so much in the process. Now that she has made available downloadable music, I was quick to purchase. Book 1 is *exactly* what I need to practice the lessons and to build the confidence to become a better and stronger musician. I have also purchased her Book 2 and Book 2 Songs as well as her Simply Series. Following along with her instructional videos, I feel like I am truly coming along. Thank you so much for the generous time you give us and the focus and refinement of your videos

    Good arrangements

Posted by SuNa on 19th Feb 2018

I just picked up a violin after 45 years. It’s not exactly like “ you never forget how to ride a bike!” But I am going to keep with this. These songs are mostly recognizable and the arrangements are easy enough for beginners. I appreciate having them to play when I tire of scales, etc.

    Good Beginner Intro Songs

Posted by Kody Morgan on 5th Jan 2018

This is a good follow-up from the 1-10 video lessons. There's a mix of 10 songs for beginners (most very easy, a few more challenging) that sound nice. Each one has a link to watch a video of the song being performed; which is helpful if you haven't heard that particular song again. The book is a downloadable PDF, so you don't have a waiting period for delivery. I had actually bought song book 2 first, but was glad to find a book 1 as the songs were a lot easier for a new player.
