very understable for beginners
I'm in my book 2 now and Ms. Sparrow has been a tremendous help in my learning. The instructions in the books are so easy to understand. I am so thankful i first atumbled upon her on youtube! The book is just like having her beside you and it made my learning doable and not a strain or struggle. She helped me overcome my preconceptions about piano as intimidating. I highly recommend this book for beginners.

MAKING SENSE OF MUSIC FOR ME...
The information is repeated as you work through the book enabling me to understand things as I work through it. It connects well and expands on the previous book. It looks complicated work but is good to have someone take time to show you how to do this properly which is building my confidence and giving me a better understanding of music. The music is explained in a simple and clear way as though someone is talking to you. I like the PDF format so I can print off sheets and the links take me online directly to hear how the exercises sound. There is a new feature for Quick Response Codes as well. I found the personal advice on how to do things most helpful and suggestions for revision and practice help me organise myself.

Another elderly learner!
To my amazement I find I am making real progress using these piano tutorials and I am a complete beginner aged 63. I think the YouTube videos make all the difference when something just won't sink in or I am losing heart. Alison is absolutely correct about the work needed on scales and arpeggios and I feel it is beginning to pay off.

A Fantastic Progression From Book 1
Book 1 in the series offered the would be pianist a fantastic jump start to learning some of the fundamentals of playing. Book 2 continues this with an equal 'no nonsense approach' offering a worthy accompaniment to the free online lessons that Alison Sparrow very kindly donates. As with book 1 the simplicity of explanations make things appear so easy that even an idiot like me can follow them. Any questions that I have posted on the YouTube clips the author has followed up immediately with answers. I now move on to book 3. A review of it will follow soon.

I'm making progress!
I'm a 68 year old piano beginner with some previous musical experience. I like Alison Sparrow's no-nonsense approach. I thought Book 1 was well put together, with good links to YouTube. I finished that so moved to Book 2. This is more gritty. She tells you that working on scales etc is really important - and I believe her. And yes, like a good pupil who's a bit scared of his teacher, I'm doing the scales! Good book - very good value.

Book 2 is also excellent.
I'm enjoying the technical exercises (scale and arpeggios) presented in this book. I've been practicing them everyday, and I've seen major improvements. The way Alison presents the information (without overloading you with unnecessary information at this point) makes it easier to follow and stick with it. For future purchasers, I recommend getting both Book 1 and Book 2 at the same time, so that you can get access to the scales and arpeggio exercises right from the beginning. They have really helped me understand fingering, loosening up my hand, and getting comfortable with the piano.

This Teaching method works!
The books and tutorials go hand in hand making learning, practicing and playing the piano easy, fun and joyful. I no longer feel intimidated by the piano, instead I love to pick up a piece of music and see how far I can play it. It amazes me how quickly I have been able to learn with Allison's teachings verses other methods I have attempted. Her videos are informative and extremely helpful. A+++ Teaching!
